Practice Exercise
Divide paper into 4 sections.
Divide the upper left box into 4 smaller boxes.
Do several smaller progressive sketches, see video, then larger sketches of a still life.
• Sketch for position in space and relationship.
• Rhythmic Energy is lyrical movement - keep the instrument on the paper without the lifting off.
• Draw your subject in your mind; draw it in your heart. Use follow-through lines.
• A wholistic approach, the overall shapes the objects fit in within the lyrical forces. Use of body movements – finger, wrist, forearm.
Larger sketch uses a broader group of muscles.
Use dot method to guestimate the size and distance between objects, once estimation is cleared take a leap of faith with an expression.
This stage/phase is the flat design in the painting process. The linear strokes will be mirrored in the brushstrokes
