Weir - Paint your legacy.
• Let your nature reveal nature.
• What do you want to leave for others? Draw or paint a legacy landscape.
• Painting is an extension of yourself. Focus on the brushstrokes and light, the light on the subject at the moment, or the light within your heart, often it is a duet between the two.
Twachtman – Illuminated Memory
• Do not be held hostage to a photograph.
• If using a photograph, make drawing studies and colors studies, then put the photo away.
• Paint your naive impression, using a thought poem, paint from hope. Paint it as a mood prayer.
Cassatt –Fluid Lines Caressing Fields of Color
• Create a still life or landscape
• Using a base of expressive fluid lines (the line becomes the edging to connect the fields of colors).
• Layout large fields of transparent colors, followed by smaller patches of opaque colors followed by expressive layered brushstrokes.
