Reduce the glare of the sun – pre-tone the canvas and place backing on the canvas, and stand in the shade.
Using wax medium allows the brush to glide with expressive strokes in a wet to wet
Use cords or clamps to keep a palette from flipping over from a gust of wind
Lower the height level of the easel for more stability from wind
