Select a high rez image.
Look into the canvas – examine her brushstrokes from the surface strokes, the middle layers, and then into the initial stained strokes.
Of her works, study her color combinations. Create a palette from her colors used in one piece.
Create a work using her various brushstrokes and color palette.
Degas: Balanced the Mystery and Technical
Think about your % ratio of science and poetry.
Select a still life, draw or paint 50% of it accurately as possible (as fact, science), the rest with feeling (express how does the object feel.)
Draw or paint the same but change the ratio. 25% science/75% poetry.
Reverse it. See the difference between the 3 pieces. Which % fits you best?
